Here are the main points from Adam’s lecture at the 1st Paediatric Hearing Aids course.
Preparing the Parents – key points were to build up trust with parents by being honest and not avoiding difficult conversations
Strategies for testing – key points were to be flexible in approach to testing and think about what we are testing and why to make sure that we gain the most clinically relevant information to aid decision making
Introduction to complex fittings – key points were to ensure we are looking at outcomes to assess our intervention in real time so that we can make adjustments that are meaningful and appropriate in cases like ANSD.
Multidisciplinary Teams – highlighting other professionals that we could and should work with to ensure optimal management of the child
Report Writing – ensuring that clinic letters are accurate, accessible and suitable for a range of recipients.
